The session on Thursday evening was devoted to some of the advanced features of Microsoft WORD. Most of us use WORD for letters, reports and minutes, for example, some only a couple of pages and some very large documents.
Firstly, we went through creating a new document using the STYLES which are on the top Menu Ribbon, these are some things which have always been there but not used to their full extent if at all. However, once the concept is understood and how it works, it is a great feature, it is also essential if you want to add a contents page or an index page to your document using the auto features.
As an engineer, my writing style is based on writing technical documents and perhaps my grammar is sometimes not up to scratch. However, the application called 'Grammarly' is excellent at spotting errors both in spelling and grammar and it allows you to either select an alternative or reject the suggestion. This does not in any way detract from the WORD spell and grammar checker which is built in, but Grammarly can be used across virtually any text-based platform.

Without this facility seniors do not have much access to experts to learn from or solve problems. The meetings provide a welcome service with very friendly atmosphere. John H
I think zoom meetings are a great way of keeping the community in touch with what’s happened in local areas and beyond And learning from each other from the comfort of your living room and Steve- he’s a very good organiser….Alf S
